I have made a request to court a beautiful young woman. It is my pledge to honor and respect her throughout our courtship and beyond. The purpose for our courtship is to determine if it is God’s will for us to be together. If it is, the fruit of this period of courtship will blossom into a permanent, lifelong commitment to each other. If it is not God’s will for us, our lives will be blessed by having developed a more mature love and respect for one another. During our courtship, I renew my commitment to chastity. This promise is for our health and happiness, the health and happiness of my parents, of her parents, of my future wife and our future children. I will accept no substitutes, no lies, and no imitations of real love.
Believing that physical intimacy is sacred, I promise to God that I will respect myself and the young woman of my affections, pursue a life of purity, and save the gift of virginity until marriage. I will honor and respect the guidance of my father and mother, as well as honor and respect the guidance of her father and mother. With love, I will protect and defend her personal commitment to chastity as well as my own.
Knowing that God is sovereign in all things, during our courtship, I make a commitment to be in prayer for our relationship. I will ask God for discernment and trust in his guidance. This is my pledge.
