On Saturday, April 14, 2007, Fr. Corapi spoke to a group of 1600 men at the University of St. Thomas, for an Archdiocesan Major Men's Event. What follows so far, are the notes that I took from the event. If you have notes or comments that you would like to add to these, please click here to e-mail me at: e-mail Fr. Corapi notes
LEADERSHIP Fr. Corapi's Leadership talk is available on DVD / CD (these recordings are from other venues, as no recording was done this day).
by Fr. Corapi ~ notes as best as I have so far:
Lead by example ~ lead from the front. There is no great leader than Jesus; he led by example. He did not say 'pick up your cross' without first picking up his cross.
Educate. You must provide an authentic education for those in your charge. The Catechism is one of the greatest gifts that Pope John Paul II gave the Church. Ask the right questions.
Attitude. You cannot win without having the right attitude. Attitude is essential; losers make excuses; winners make plans. "No excuse sir!" is the response from West Point students, and should be ours as well. Your attitude should be that of a son of the Living God. You have to have a positive attitude. Do not be embarrassed by your faith or Church.
Discipline. No discipline, no victory. There must be discipline in the family, work place, life.
Empower. You must empower your people (family, employees, etc.). Jesus empowered us with Grace to pick up our cross and follow him. Pray the Rosary every day. Padre Pio called his Rosary his weapon. (Fr. Corapi has a book called 'The Power of the Rosary')
Receive and Respect input. Your children may have some of the best answers to problems in the family.
Sacrifice. No pain, no gain. No cross, no crown. For a winning team, the players must sacrifice. Anything worth having is worth sacrificing for.
Humility. No humility, no holiness. No holiness, no Heaven. You cannot win without true humility. humility is an acknowledgement of truth. 'I am a spec of dust in the cosmos; God loves this spec.
Initiative. Seize the day. don't wait for someone else to do it. 'Pray like it is all up to God, but work like it is all up to you.'
Plan, Prepare, Practice, Pray. Do battle drills; always start with prayer ~ don't try anything by yourself.
During the Q & A afterwards, these are just a few random notes that I have:
'Immorality is un-American, and is a threat to national security.'
When you are fighting terrorism, you are either pre emptive and { ? } or you are a victim. (can someone help me with this quote?)
Don't forget that you have a spiritual Mother. "If she is good enough for Jesus, she is good enough for you."
